Features: We can see that even during the highly repressive "Cultural Revolution" period, people still had a demand for reading literature, and in terms of reading itself, there were also multifaceted needs: the value of these works as historical texts cannot be denied. — Cultural Reminiscence
This edition of the Cultural Revolution handwritten novel preserves the authentic flavor of the era, capturing the life circumstances of people during that time. The characters' thinking patterns were deeply marked by the period, and their narrative style and language were simple and straightforward. Yet, the plot, like countless folk literatures, instinctively grasped both the beauty and evil in human nature.
The author spent 12 months visiting dozens of households in Beijing, much like a gold seeker, bringing long-forgotten handwritten novels back into the light. From faded diaries, dusty manuscript papers, and debris gnawed on by mice, he unearthed over 20 handwritten novels. He carefully repaired the damaged portions and painfully edited out nearly half of the works before compiling this collection of handwritten novels.
