Features: Yangqin, also known as Yangqin, has undergone evolution and accumulation over nearly four hundred years since its introduction to China, becoming a vibrant Chinese folk plucked instrument with distinctive colors. Its sound is melodious and elegant, excelling in playing light, lively, and graceful tunes. In recent years, music education and examination activities have flourished, and the Yangqin world has become even more vibrant, with an increasing number of learners both domestically and internationally. To meet the needs of this development, we have carefully selected and revised the original "Examination Course for Yangqin in China and Abroad" and meticulously compiled this new textbook.
This textbook is divided into nine levels, with Levels 1-3 being beginner levels, Levels 4-6 intermediate levels, and Levels 7-9 advanced levels. After Level 9, our institution offers an additional Performance Diploma level, which is higher than the highest level of any domestic examination institution and roughly equips learners with the performance level required for professional development.
The writing of this textbook follows the principle of progressing from simple to complex, integrating technicality with interest, professionalism with accessibility. Starting with the basic single-note techniques of the Yangqin and the easy-to-learn middle registers in G and F keys, the exercises and pieces are combined, emphasizing both technical practice and artistic performance. This allows learners to gradually master correct and standardized Yangqin playing methods and various common techniques, while also gaining a deeper understanding of the stylistic characteristics of traditional Yangqin art schools and the musical connotations of both Chinese and foreign compositions.
Technically, this textbook focuses on comprehensive training in seven categories of techniques: single notes, double notes, tremolo, arpeggios, two-voice harmonization, and colorful techniques. Artistically, it strives to broadly incorporate the stylistic features of both ancient and modern music. Following the principle of combining nationality with modernity, as well as breadth with representation, the selected pieces in this textbook include both traditional masterpieces and modern works, all of which have a certain social influence and high value in performance, teaching, and appreciation.
We sincerely welcome all Yangqin players and enthusiasts to actively participate in examination activities. We believe that through the study and training provided by this textbook, you will achieve remarkable progress in both performance techniques and artistic cultivation.
