Features: The Great Treasure of Chinese Art and Calligraphy, with a funding of tens of millions of yuan, presents stunning cultural relics and books. Chinese civilization, with its long and profound history, has demonstrated an inexhaustible creativity through trials and tribulations, seamlessly blending with the character of a diligent, wise, and brave nation, contributing immensely to the treasure trove of human culture. Chinese painting and calligraphy, which share the same origin, principle, and method but surge forth in diverse styles, are an important part of the Chinese civilization, playing an immeasurable role in its history. Since ancient times, when the world was clear and just, great works were compiled to preserve the history and culture, stored in libraries, and passed down to future generations, becoming a custom. In this prosperous era, the Ministry of Culture has followed the ancient tradition, establishing a specialized publishing institution for ancient Chinese books and paintings—the Lin Zhuang Shu Ju. With the advice of Chairman Shen of the Chinese Calligraphy Association, who generously inscribed the title, and the dedication of experts from the Palace Museum in Beijing and the Palace Museum in Taipei, rare treasures from domestic and international collectors, as well as renowned calligraphers and painters, have been presented. Advanced Japanese techniques for restoring cultural relics, custom-made antique sandalwood ink, and China’s exclusive patented color printing technology for Xuan paper have collaborated to pioneer the restoration and color printing of rare Chinese painting and calligraphy on Xuan paper. After five years of investment and dedication, the first-ever publication of a monumental cultural relic book combining rare paintings and calligraphy on Xuan paper, titled The Treasury of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy, has been created. This massive collection, without any piece missing, comprises 106 volumes in 18 cases, printed in a limited edition of 500 sets. It spans from the pre-Qin period to the late Qing and early Republican era, collecting over 10,600 rare treasures of calligraphy, including private secret holdings, isolated woodblock prints, and good stone carvings, as well as nearly 1,000 selected masterpieces of painting, including imperial collections, private holdings, authentic works, and fine imitations. Specialized antique sandalwood ink and traditional handmade wire binding with carved wooden box packaging are used. The Treasury of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy is a monumental work unparalleled in history, with its 106 volumesing the past and present. The collection is particularly remarkable in painting, being the first in China to use Xuan paper for color printing, encompassing all major schools and styles. In calligraphy, it includes timeless masterpieces in the history of calligraphy, with nearly 500 newly discovered isolated woodblock prints, making it a monumental masterpiece in the history of Chinese publishing, precious beyond compare. The Treasury of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy has been widely acclaimed since its release and has been officially designated as a "National Gift" by the Department of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Recently, Vice Premier Qian Qichen, during his state visit to the UK, presented the Treasury to Prime Minister Tony Blair as a token of appreciation for his contributions to Sino-UK relations.
