Features: The Fast Track Chinese divides everyday language into 15 topics (Introduction and Questions, School Life, Problems and Travel, Time and Dates, Transportation, At the Hotel, Visiting and Hosting, Shopping, Seasons and Weather, Health and Medical Care, Diet, Discussing Issues, Hobbies and Interests, Trade, Learning Chinese). Each lesson focuses on part of the language related to one topic. The entire set consists of three volumes, with 15 lessons per volume, totaling 45 lessons. Each volume forms a complete cycle.
The first volume covers the basic content of the 15 topics. Mastering it allows for simple Chinese communication. The next two volumes gradually expand on this foundation, enriching and deepening each topic. The third volume also intentionally incorporates some business and trade vocabulary to enhance the book's practicality.
Each lesson includes five sections: basic sentence patterns, text, notes, exercises, and vocabulary. The text is primarily in dialogue form to train listening and speaking skills. Most lessons also feature short narrative passages to train reading and comprehension skills. All texts are accompanied by English translations. The dialogues in all three volumes and the narrative passages in the first volume are annotated with Pinyin.
The text and sentence patterns are supported by concise and practical notes to explain grammar. Each lesson presents 10 sentence patterns and about 20 vocabulary items, with the three volumes totaling 450 sentence patterns and approximately 9,000 Chinese words (including phrases).
This textbook adheres to the principles of repetition and gradual progression in the arrangement of vocabulary and grammar points to facilitate learning.
