Features: The term "rare and difficult diseases" refers to uncommon symptoms that may appear in common diseases, or rare symptoms that may occur in uncommon diseases, which can pose certain challenges for clinical diagnosis and treatment. In reality, common diseases as perceived by doctors often present complex situations during their development, making differential diagnosis and treatment difficult. For example, I once treated a patient who was the president of a magazine company. He suffered from severe neurotic syndrome, unable to sleep all night, with splitting headaches, continuous sweating, and a feeling of cold all over his body. Even in mid-June, the height of summer, he wore a sweater. His condition persisted for six months, during which he sought treatment at a provincial hospital for three months. Western medicine provided symptomatic treatment, while Chinese medicine used warming Yang, dispelling cold, consolidating the exterior to induce sweating, and nourishing the heart and calming the spirit, but all were ineffective. Later, I carefully examined his symptoms and used methods such as clearing heat, eliminating phlegm, and calming the mind, which yielded good results.
The series is divided into volumes based on internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, dermatology and venereal diseases, tumors, urology, and orthopedics. Each volume selects and compiles diseases, primarily using Western medical names, including both common and rare diseases. Under each disease name, the first section presents the concept, followed by headings such as "Clinical Manifestations," "Diagnostic Key Points," "Effective Therapies," and "Treatment Selection and Evaluation." Under "Effective Therapies," subheadings include general treatment, acupuncture therapy, massage therapy, topical medications, and dietary therapy. The content is rich and diverse. At the end of each disease, there is a section titled "Treatment Selection and Evaluation," which reflects the compilers' decades of clinical experience and clearly indicates effective treatment methods suitable for patients. This is the greatest feature that distinguishes this book from other medical references, showcasing ingenious and invaluable work.
