Features: The renowned American landscape photographer A. Adams published numerous photographic works and collections throughout his life. In his later years, he revised and compiled a new series titled A. Adams Photography New Series, which systematically summarized his decades of photographic experience. This series, A. Adams on Photography (hereinafter referred to as "On Photography"), primarily draws its material from the second volume of the New Series, The Negative (1981 edition). As the book discusses various aspects of photography with unique insights, it is named A. Adams on Photography.
The first volume of the New Series is The Camera, which not only elaborates in detail on the construction and performance of various cameras but also touches upon some aspects of photography. The chapter "Imagination and Image" in this book is compiled based on the chapters from The Camera and The Negative. This is because these chapters primarily focus on the concept of "imagination"—one from the perspective of the camera and the other from the perspective of the image. Combining the two for discussion may provide a more thorough and comprehensive understanding of the concept.
Chapters 2, "Image Control," and Chapter 3, "Aperture and Shutter," are excerpted from relevant chapters of The Camera. The appendix "Lens Formulas" from The Camera is included as Appendix II in this book, which may be more useful for readers.
