Powell's son, Jack, was born two months early in the womb because his growth rate was four times faster than normal. By the time he was ten, he already had the appearance of a forty-year-old adult man. But he was still just a ten-year-old child. Powell and his wife hired a family tutor to help Jack with his studies. However, the tutor believed that learning alone wasn't enough and that Jack should interact and play with his peers to develop properly. Finally, Powell and his wife were convinced to send Jack to fifth grade at elementary school. Jack, who appeared older than his teachers, was seen as a giant and a weirdo by his classmates. But over time, his classmates began to realize the benefits of having this giant classmate: he could pretend to be an adult to buy Playboy magazines at the supermarket, and he shined in basketball games. However, there were also troubles—he gained so much weight that he collapsed the treehouse his classmates had painstakingly built.
