He graduated from the Chinese Department of Beijing Normal University in 1984. He once worked at Nanjing University of the Arts. Starting in 1985, he served as a literary editor for the journal Zhongshan. In 1993, he became a professional writer for the Jiangsu Writers' Association. Since his university days, he has been writing and publishing literary works, with over 2 million words of fiction published to date. His major works include the novels "Mai," "My Emperor's Life," and "Why Does the Snake Fly"; the short stories "Husbands and Concubines," "The Opium Family," "Three Lanterns," and "Pink Powder," among others. His main publications include the eight-volume "Su Tong Collection" (Jiangsu Literature and Art Publishing House), among others.
