Features: This dictionary set consists of three volumes: "Wall Street Financial Dictionary," "Investment Dictionary," and "Banking Dictionary." Each volume has a distinct focus, though there is some overlap. The compilation of this series is primarily based on the U.S. federal system and management system, supplemented by the Commonwealth system. Except for explicitly mentioned countries and regions, all definitions adhere to current standards of the U.S. and British systems. In recent years, dictionaries on banking published in China's book market have often defined many terms from a Chinese perspective, resulting in significant differences from international common practices. Some terms' concepts have been phased out, while others with newly emerged vocabulary have not been included. All these issues have contributed to certain confusion alongside the development of concepts and terminology. This is largely due to some terms in China having established conventional meanings, yet their connotations and extensions differ greatly internationally. This cannot be overlooked as a barrier to aligning with global standards.
To address these issues, we compiled this dictionary, aiming to eliminate erroneous or confusing concepts, provide new vocabulary and relevant terminology along with their definitions, and thereby adapt to the new realities of China's entry into the WTO. This will enable China's banking sector to integrate more quickly and effectively with international banking. The dictionary is arranged in alphabetical order, featuring over 3,500 entries. Each term follows international common meanings while providing detailed Chinese definitions that consider China's current realities and cultural characteristics. While this may deviate slightly from literal translations, we believe it enhances understanding for Chinese readers.
