Features: This book is part of the Qilu Folk Custom Series, a rare and. The authors, Shan Man and others, conducted in-depth field research, meticulously documented, and organized the material into written form, complemented by photographs and illustrations. This vividly and strikingly showcases the unique style of Shandong folk toys, allowing readers to glimpse the distinctive charm of the people from a small perspective. The book describes numerous typical traditional toys such as the Jiaodong embroidered pouch, embroidered lions, Weifang Yangjiabu kites, and Tengzhou wooden toys featuring eighteen types of weapons. These toys are rich in imagery and full of fun. A general overview cannot fully capture the richness and diversity of Shandong's folk culture, so we envisioned creating a series of Shandong folk custom books. Each book would focus on a different folk culture circle within Shandong, distinguishing not only between mountain and coastal regions but also between the distinct areas of Tai Shan, Laoshan, Kunyanshan, and Yimengshan. It would not only record folk customs in rural areas but also prioritize urban customs, which have not been well-documented by previous generations. It would not only create folk custom records for different regions but also weave together the customs along the Yellow River and the Grand Canal. It would not only provide a relatively macroscopic depiction of regional folk culture but also explore the microcosm of individual villages, towns, families, and specific customs. In this way, the folk culture of the entire Shandong province would be presented to the world. The material and writing style of the series will break away from the traditional comprehensive approach used in folk custom books in recent years. With a panoramic view in mind, it will focus more on individual cases, allowing readers to feel as if they are experiencing various folk customs firsthand. It will serve as a true local textbook for the people of Shandong, offering a reliable guide for outsiders seeking to adapt to local customs. The series aims to be accessible to general readers, a companion for travelers, useful for scholars, and a timeless preservation of Qilu regional culture.
