Patient's question:
A child was found to have blurred vision at the age of 4. After examination by you, the result was diagnosed as infantile strabismus amblyopia. The uncorrected visual acuity was 0.6 and 0.8. After years of persistent treatment, the current visual acuity is 1.0, 1.0.Doctor's answer:
Strabismus is caused by abnormal eye movement due to muscle imbalance in the muscles that control the eyes. The random movements of a newborn's eyes are normal. Generally, the eyes start moving together a few weeks after birth. If a baby's eyes cannot move in the same direction (one up, one down), it may be a sign of strabismus.
