Features: This textbook (Second Edition) primarily selects vocabulary based on the "Outline for Chinese Language Proficiency Vocabulary and Character Grades" published by the National Office for Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, focusing on Level D vocabulary. It also includes some frequently used and easily confused Level C words, as well as a selection of common idioms. This new edition of the textbook is divided into four units, with a total of 12 lessons, each lesson containing approximately 1,800 words and about 35 vocabulary items. An oral communication-related knowledge introduction is inserted between each unit to help students expand their knowledge and deepen their understanding of spoken Chinese. This new edition retains some of the original textbook's topics, with more focused character relationships and more prominent language appropriateness. Most of the lesson content has been completely updated. The lessons follow a typical Chinese family as the main storyline, unfolding the plot in a quasi-dramatic format, covering various aspects of Chinese families and society. The scenarios and characters selected in the book emphasize both typicality and breadth, with each character given distinct personalities, backgrounds, experiences, and language styles. The language is vivid, natural, and appropriate, aligning with each character's identity. Learners can immerse themselves in the Chinese family and society through the textbook's characters, deepening their understanding of Chinese society and learning authentic spoken language. This new edition of the textbook highlights practicality in exercise design, enhancing input and output training with a focus on paragraph-level expression exercises. It systematically arranges a substantial number of narrative, retelling, lecture, and debate topics to effectively improve students' ability to express themselves fluently and coherently in longer passages. A new exercise on sentence pattern expression has been added in the new edition. The exercises are divided into three parts: "Textbook Content" focuses on understanding the lesson content and applying the vocabulary; "Sentence Patterns" selects more complex sentence structures from the lesson for language structure-based training; and "Discussion and Survey" emphasizes paragraph-level expression training, providing students with ample room for full expression.
