This is his second collection of essays after The Collected Works of Dunhuang and Turpan Studies (Taipei, Xinwenfeng Publishing Company, 1996), and it is also a companion work to his Collected and Annotated Astronomical Calendar Documents from Dunhuang and Turpan (Jiangsu Ancient Books Publishing House, 1996) and Astronomical Calendars Unearthed from Dunhuang and Turpan (Henan Education Publishing House, 1997). These two document compendia and the be published collection of essays can be considered a trilogy, reflecting Professor Wenkuan's years of dedicated research on the astronomical calendar documents unearthed from Dunhuang, Turpan, and Khara-Khoto, as well as those scattered across the world.
