Features: Proverbs are the oral creations of the masses and are a colorful treasure in the cultural and artistic treasury. Through proverbs, we can learn about the history, culture, and customs of different countries, enrich our knowledge, and broaden our horizons. Proverbs summarize the social experience of humanity over thousands of years, covering almost every aspect of social life. Although proverbs have certain limitations—some are only applicable to specific contexts—many can guide people's lives and work, which is why some call them the living textbooks of the masses. This book collects over 3,000 proverbs and famous sayings from around the world, all arranged in alphabetical order of the words as they appear in the sentences for easy reference. The format of this book is simple and easy to understand, with English-Chinese (bilingual), making it convenient to use. For the translations of the proverbs in the book, the compilers have adopted literal or free translation based on the context, and some have used corresponding Chinese proverbs. The translations strive to be smooth, clear, and concise. To facilitate understanding, brief explanations are provided in parentheses after some translations. To meet the needs of readers at different levels, the compilers have added annotations for the meanings of certain words in the proverbs, as well as phonetic transcriptions and parts of speech for the words.
