Features: This book is a specialized work on modern theories and treatments of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer, edited by Professor Tu Guiyi of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, and co-authored by renowned experts from China and abroad who have made significant contributions to the treatment of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer. Based on the international trend of comprehensive treatment, the book aims to preserve laryngeal function while achieving tumor radical resection, and focuses on functional preservation surgery. Laryngeal cancer is the second most common respiratory cancer after lung cancer, and the second most frequent malignant tumor originating from epithelial tissue in the head and neck, with an incidence rate lower than nasopharyngeal cancer but accounting for 1.2%-1.6% of all malignant tumors. The incidence of hypopharyngeal cancer varies significantly across different countries and regions, accounting for 0.3% of all malignant tumors. This book compiles the clinical experiences of over 30 experts in the field of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery from both China and overseas, including two American experts and one French expert. The book is divided into 31 chapters. The introductory section briefly reviews the history of laryngeal surgery; Chapters 1 to 6 cover the basic theoretical research on laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer, including applied anatomy, clinical classification and staging, imaging diagnosis, and the reconstruction and clinical application of three-dimensional imaging. Chapters 7 to 8 discuss the pathological research on laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer. Chapters 9 to 12 elaborate on the treatment methods for laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer, including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, minimally invasive treatment, and laser therapy. Chapters 13 to 28 focus on the surgical treatment of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer, including partial laryngectomy, functional preservation surgery, total laryngectomy, and surgical treatment, as well as endoscopic treatment. Chapters 29 to 31 discuss vocal rehabilitation for voiceless patients, quality of life assessment for tumor patients, and laryngeal transplantation, among other topics. This is a rare clinical medical monograph in the field of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery in China in recent years, and its publication will further promote the advancement of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancer treatment in the country.
