Features: This is a work of research on the influence of classical Chinese poetry on American modern and contemporary poetry. In 1981, the author went to the United States to conduct research, immersing himself in reading library archives to find "hand" materials. This book, The Poetic Spirit's Journey, is far from an expansion or revision of an old work from twenty years ago. The author devoted his life's work to searching for modern elements within the tradition of Chinese poetics and aesthetics. This book makes bold propositions and meticulous investigations, serving as an example of the author's research style. In 1983, he wrote The Poetic Spirit's Journey, a work with a solid influence in the field of comparative literature in China's new era, which was awarded the Comparative Literature Research First Prize by the Comparative Literature Association of China. However, the original print run was extremely limited, making it a rare treasure in academia. Over the past twenty years, through teaching and research, the author has continuously collected materials and thoroughly rewritten the book, extending the examination period from the 19th century to the present day, and meticulously depicting the grand scene of three stages: "Future-Change-Post-Change." Against this large-scale examination as a backdrop, he presents a convincing analysis: Chinese poetics, philosophy, and religion were key influences in the modern transformation process of American poetry.
