Features: The design of the "poker" is clever, and its origin has been a subject of various legends. By studying the attire of the K, Q, J figures, it can be considered to have originated from ancient Rome. It is said that Emperor Caesar of ancient Rome created the prototype of poker to promote a new calendar. Two joker cards (the big joker and the small joker) represent the sun and the moon; the red and black colors symbolize day and night, while the four suits—clubs, hearts, spades, and diamonds—represent the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The K, Q, and J in the cards signify that each season has three months; from A to K, there are thirteen cards, representing that each season has thirteen weeks. J stands for eleven, Q for twelve, and K for thirteen. The total point value of the thirteen cards is ninety-one, indicating that each season has ninety-one days. Due to the difference in the number of days in a leap year, two joker cards are used to adjust. The total point value is three hundred sixty-six, matching the number of days in a year.
Content of the Book: Following the inherent characteristics of magic, to achieve the best effect during poker magic performances, the following requirements must be met:
- The performer must choose poker cards made of high-quality paper with a smooth surface. Rough paper cards are not flexible and can affect the performance.
- The two JOKER cards in the deck are known in China as the big joker and the small joker, or as the commander card and the card, also referred to as flower cards. This book uniformly refers to them as flower cards.
- In the deck, A counts as one, J counts as eleven, Q counts as twelve, and K counts as thirteen.
- The performer must first learn the special "magician's shuffle" required for magic. Most poker card magic relies on this shuffle method.
