Features: This book is the teacher's manual for the Pre-Intermediate Reading Course of "College English." The entire book consists of sixteen lessons, designed for use over one semester. Each lesson is structured into three parts:
1. Teaching Plan: Includes background materials, introduction, language points, classroom activities, and supplementary exercises;
2. Exercise Answers: Provides answers to previewing, pronunciation, grammar, syntax, sentence patterns, and text exercises, as well as sentence-making and dictation;
3. Reference Translations. The purpose of providing the above materials is solely to facilitate teachers in preparing lessons and is not intended to impose a rigid teaching model. The fundamental task of the Pre-Intermediate Reading Course of "College English," and by extension the fundamental task of pre-college English teaching, is to enable students to review and consolidate the English they learned in middle school at a new level, thereby improving their practical mastery and application of the material and enhancing their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. In actual classroom instruction, analyzing text content and explaining language points are essential teaching steps to help students comprehend the material. Given that most of the language items in the Pre-Intermediate Reading Course of "College English" are things students have already learned in middle school, helping them understand the text may not be very difficult or time-consuming. However, helping students grasp the content is only the initial and simplest step in learning English. The more important, more challenging, and fundamental step is how to enable students to actually master the English language forms themselves that they have already understood the meaning of. Therefore, teachers must devote significant effort to helping students familiarize themselves with the language forms in the text and exercises and apply them in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Only in this way can the teaching task of the pre-college English program be successfully completed. As for the materials provided in this book, they are for reference only. The teaching plan section can be adjusted as needed based on actual teaching conditions; many exercise answers are not the only correct solutions, and the reference translations cannot be considered true translations in the strict sense.
