Features: The attending physicians are the main technical backbone in hospitals, handling a large amount of clinical work. They urgently need to improve their professional competence, but their tight schedules leave little time for them to thoroughly review specialized books. In light of this, we have invited some clinical doctors with long-term experience and expertise in their respective fields to compile this series, "Modern Attending Physicians Improvement Series," to meet the needs of readers in this regard. The series is organized by clinical disciplines, with chapters focusing on the difficult and challenging issues frequently encountered by attending physicians in their work. The titles are presented in the form of questions. The entire series aims to reflect the academic level represented by readers at the attending physician level, while also appropriately introducing new developments and concepts in clinical diagnosis and treatment to promote knowledge updates among attending physicians.
With the development of modern medicine, critical care medicine (critical care medicine) has emerged as a new discipline within the medical field, gradually growing across the country. The clinical base of critical care medicine—the intensive care unit (ICU)—has formed a relatively complete system. Currently, in an increasing number of hospitals, ICUs have demonstrated strong vitality, highlighting the necessity and feasibility of applying critical care medicine theory to clinical practice.
The book "600 Questions for Attending Physicians in Critical Care Medicine" is written for middle-aged and young physicians working in ICUs. It also provides significant help for healthcare professionals from other specialties in the treatment of critically ill patients. The authors are doctors with senior technical titles (above associate senior level) or medical doctorates, who have been engaged in critical care treatment at the clinical front for many years. Based on their clinical experience and extensive literature review, they have meticulously designed questions, offering concise and practical answers to the difficulties, doubts, hot topics, and often confusing issues encountered in ICU work.
At the same time, all the questions and answers in the book are divided into eight parts: Overview, Emergency, Circulatory Function, Respiratory Function, Renal Function, Hospital-Acquired Infection and Antibiotics, Nutrition and Metabolism, and Critical Care Scoring Systems. Each part is independent and systematically elaborates on relevant topics, from theory to specific clinical treatment methods, as well as the latest international developments. Thus, the book serves as a reference that is both systematic in theory and practical in application, providing guidance for daily ICU operations.
ICU work is characterized by rapid changes in patient conditions, requiring dynamic monitoring, timely adjustments to treatment plans, and interventions. If the average validity period of medical orders in other departments is three days, in an ICU, orders written in the morning may need to be revised by noon. Therefore, some of the treatment methods mentioned in the book, especially drug dosages and concentrations, may be affected by changes in patient conditions and specific circumstances during actual application. Readers are advised to pay close attention when referring to these aspects.
