Features: This book provides a detailed introduction to the knowledge necessary for the development of database application systems. It is divided into three parts—Introduction, Database Management System, and Database Application Development Technology. The Introduction explains the relationship between database management systems and database application development technology, proposing a database application system example—a small teaching management system. In the Database Management System and Database Application Development Technology sections, it uses this example to illustrate the entire development process from design to the formation of a database application product, enabling readers to grasp database application development technology from a systematic perspective. The Database Management System section focuses on SQL Server 2000, which has a high market share, explaining how to manage and manipulate databases on the server side. The Database Application Development Technology section primarily uses PowerBuilder 8.0, a currently popular specialized database front-end development tool, to introduce client application development methods. It also covers Web-based database application development methods to help readers understand Web-structured database development technology. This book is intended as a teaching material for computer science majors in higher education institutions, as well as for information majors in colleges and universities and as a training textbook for database short-term training courses.
