Features: Bone Radiology is designed to assist in the complex diagnostic research of a large number of orthopedic patients. Its fundamental concepts are threefold:
1. To provide basic knowledge of imaging methods currently used for the diagnosis of a wide range of common bone and joint diseases, helping to select the most effective radiological techniques to minimize examination costs and the patient's radiation exposure dose.
2. To emphasize providing the information needed for orthopedic surgeons to choose the correct treatment.
This book does not aim to compete with others in terms of volume or scope. As a precise guide for performing examinations, many uncommon lesions are not included. Additionally, the nature of this book does not allow for the inclusion of all detailed materials for each lesion or comprehensive discussions on different aspects of controversy. This content is left for readers to explore in future literature and many standard and specialized textbooks. These materials are compiled in the reference and further reading sections at the end of this volume. As expressed in the subtitle, Bone Radiology strives to provide practical methods in this field to its primary audience—medical students and residents in radiology and orthopedics. To this end, each chapter focuses on key points summarized in a table at the end of the chapter, titled "Practical Points." We have created numerous illustrative charts, such as detailed classifications of fractures, morphological features of arthritic and neoplastic lesions, standard and special positioning of patients during various radiographic examinations, and the most effective radiological techniques to demonstrate lesions. The specially reproduced radiographic images in this book, many accompanied by labeled annotations, aim to provide high-quality examples of typical orthopedic lesions. Moreover, most of the case descriptions are written in a case study format and combined with systematic diagnostic symbols (as explained in the chapter), and each table is accompanied by a legend to illustrate the evaluation of radiological examinations. Although the purpose of this book is teaching, Bone Radiology should also serve as a convenient reference material for doctors interested in bone and joint lesions and those who work in radiological diagnosis on a daily basis.
