We firmly believe that through the use of this book, readers can truly achieve the ability to generalize, apply knowledge flexibly, and successfully pass the IELTS exam. For candidates preparing for various comprehensive English proficiency exams in domestic and international settings, this book also holds significant reference and practical value.
The accompanying MP3 contains 5 hours of IELTS vocabulary and example sentence recordings, with standard and well-regulated pronunciation, offering excellent value! To smoothly pass the IELTS exam and achieve high scores, one crucial prerequisite is to overcome the vocabulary challenge. However, English words are vast and numerous, yet most vocabulary books on the market lack focus and practicality, leaving many candidates at a loss. This book was specifically created to address this issue, developed through thorough research, careful planning, and the dedicated efforts of experts and scholars working in IELTS training. The book is divided into four parts.
In the first part, the author collected past IELTS exam questions, a large amount of domestic and international IELTS teaching materials, and supplementary resources to establish an IELTS exam corpus. Using the latest retrieval and word frequency list software, they completed the word frequency list for IELTS vocabulary. Based on this, they summarized the most frequently appearing and commonly used vocabulary in the IELTS exam. Each word is provided with its part of speech and common definitions, along with frequently used example sentences in the IELTS exam. Memorizing through example sentences helps candidates imitate and master the words more effectively and memorize them in a targeted manner based on practicality.
Roots, prefixes, and suffixes are the elements that constitute words. Through our comparative analysis, we believe that mastering these memory elements is the most scientific and effective memorization method. In the second, third, and fourth parts of the book, a total of over 300 roots and over 300 prefixes and suffixes are included. To facilitate learning, the book adopts a scientific arrangement where roots are organized in alphabetical order, and prefixes and suffixes are categorized by meaning.
