Publish Date: 1979-08-01
Features: This book is a comparative calligraphy workbook for beginners, providing references and practice materials. The 2,000 commonly used characters collected in this workbook were selected from the 1,500 common character list published by the Ministry of Education of the Central People's Government in 1952, as well as frequently used single characters from newspapers and magazines. Due to the character limit, some common characters will be included in the continuation volume. This work is currently in progress and will be published in the near future. The workbook features regular script, clerical script, running script, cursive script, and seal script. To facilitate an understanding of the differences between traditional and simplified characters, a column of small regular script traditional characters is included for reference. The single characters selected in this workbook are arranged by stroke count: those with fewer strokes appear first, followed by those with more strokes; characters with the same number of strokes are arranged in order of stroke sequence.
