Features: This volume includes political writings and current affairs commentaries by Marx and Engels written on March 12, 1853. After the failure of the 1848-1849 revolution, Europe entered a reactionary period, and the workers' movement fell into a low ebb. The Communist League was also dissolved in November 1852. At that time, the main task of the revolution was to determine and openly elaborate the strategic strategy of the workers' movement during the reactionary period, to ideologically educate and unite the international proletariat, to gather strength, and to prepare for future new battles. Under these circumstances, the political activities engaged in by Marx and Engels became increasingly significant. The appendix of this volume includes 13 articles written by E. Jones, J. Weidemann, W. Pepper, J. G. Ehrlich, and A. Kloss. These articles were all written under the participation, assistance, or influence of Marx and Engels, and they reflect to a considerable extent the views of Marx and Engels. The documents included in this volume are 14 more than those in the corresponding period volume of the first edition of the Collected Works of Marx and Engels, including 2 articles by Marx and Engels. All the works of Marx and Engels included in this volume were translated or re-edited based on the historical-critical edition of the Collected Works of Marx and Engels, Volume 12 of the first part, published in 1984.
