Sima Guang's son, Sima Kang, was responsible for reviewing the text. It covers a history of 1,362 years, from the 23rd year of King Weili of Zhou (400 BC) to the 6th year of Xingde in the Later Zhou Dynasty (959 AD), divided into 294 volumes with over 3 million characters in total. Additionally, there are 30 volumes of Catalogue and 30 volumes of Investigations into Discrepancies. Zizhi Tongjian is an extremely important chronological history of China. It not only provided governance experience for the feudal ruling class but also holds significant historical value, regarded by political figures, military strategists, writers, and historians throughout the ages.
