Baby sneezes!

Patient's question:

Please ask the doctor, my baby is two and a half months old and often sneezes, but there are no other cold symptoms. Is it normal for babies to sneeze?

Doctor's answer:

If it's just a single instance of hearing a sneeze without a fever, and there are no abnormal eating or sleeping patterns, it should be nothing serious. I don't think it's caused by a cold. Newborns have weaker immune systems and may take some time to adjust to the indoor air (e.g., if the air isn't clean), and they may sneeze upon encountering something that triggers it.
Suggestions:
- Try to ventilate the room when the baby is not present, avoiding the use of electrical devices.
- If family members find it too cold or inconvenient to open the windows, you can place a bowl of water at home to purify the air.
Lifestyle care:
- Ensure the baby is properly warmed. Avoid covering their mouth and nose with items that produce fine particles or fibers (e.g., masks, towels) to prevent inhalation into the nasal cavity.
