Can babies get Tourette syndrome?

Patient's question:

My son is nine months old. This week, I noticed that when he stands up, his mouth corner occasionally twists to one side, and his body becomes stiff, lasting for about 2-3 seconds. Afterwards, everything returns to normal. Now, I've also noticed this phenomenon when he's sitting, but it's milder. It can occur multiple times within a day. The child has poor night sleep, often crying and fussing two or three times during the first half of the night, but sleeps well during the second half. Could this be infantile tics?
Please kindly provide an answer in your busy schedule. Thank you.
Duration and frequency of the current episode: It has occurred eight or nine times today.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, there are two conditions for having tics: one is cesarean delivery or preterm birth, and the other is possible postnatal imbalance in the child: because eating too much cold food damages the spleen and stomach, or eating too much harms the spleen and stomach, then causing long-term digestive problems. But your baby is only two months old, so it might not be tics, but rather incomplete neurological development. Don't worry, the baby will develop fully as it grows older. If you're still not sure, you can go to the hospital for a check-up.
