Can a newborn's blood type be tested incorrectly?

Patient's question:

In the hospital when checking blood type, I saw the doctor applying liquid to the blood. Will this type of test result in errors?

Doctor's answer:

First, all three of you should double-check the blood types to see if there are any incorrect blood type determinations. For example, if someone has cold agglutination, without performing reverse typing, it might mistakenly classify their blood type as AB. Moreover, there are not only the situations I mentioned that can interfere with blood type determination results.
