Features: This manual is compiled with the aim of being comprehensive in content, clear in concepts, concise in language, and well-organized for easy reference. It is not only suitable for reference by college and graduate students, scientific and technological workers in learning and work, but also for physics teachers in primary and secondary schools. Physics is an important fundamental discipline. With the development of science and technology, physics is increasingly deeply integrated into various technical and academic fields, demonstrating its significant role. In practical life, study, and work, many readers often need to consult the exact meanings of certain physical concepts, the correct expressions of physical laws, as well as data and units of commonly used physical quantities. To meet the needs of a broad readership, we have compiled this manual. The publication of this manual aims to provide a reference book for readers with a college-level education. Therefore, it primarily focuses on contemporary university physics courses and is organized into seven parts and 23 chapters according to the usual classification of physics: Mechanics, Vibration and Waves, Thermodynamics, Electromagnetism, Optics, and Modern Physics. In addition to the traditional basic content, it also includes knowledge, hot topics, and frontiers of modern physics, such as black holes, entropy, information entropy, magnetic monopoles, Fourier optics, nonlinear optics, scanning tunneling microscopy, superconductivity, and more. After introducing basic concepts and laws, the manual strives to connect theory with practice, specifically by highlighting its actual applications in engineering and technology. In the appendix, over 100 commonly used data tables are listed to facilitate readers in consulting physical data and related information. In the part, the manual also includes symbols and units for commonly used physical quantities (People's Republic of China National Standard) as well as various commonly used unit systems.
