Sanma, a comic character born in 1935, is a child with a tragic background, suffering from hunger, cold, bullying, and poverty, reduced to having only three strands of hair. He was created by the outstanding Chinese cartoonist Zhang Leping. Sanma's Adventures was serialized in the Dagongbao in 1947. With just a pen and a few drawings, without a single word or symbol, the author vividly depicted the miserable experiences of this wandering child—how he was enslaved, bullied, humiliated, and trampled in the old society. It not only exposed the cruelty, brutality, ugliness, deception, and injustice of the world but, more importantly, strongly stimulated the kindness and compassion of every good-hearted person, nurturing the innocent empathy of countless children!
This book is based on the content originally published in the Dagongbao in 1947 and includes six previously uncollected original drafts, totaling 126 pages. It is the most complete version available.
