Infantile spasms

Patient's question:

The child previously had a high fever, which was quite severe, and after that, they frequently experienced minor convulsions. Sometimes, when the fever recurred, their head would keep shaking and moving. The child was taken to the hospital for examination, and the doctor diagnosed it as epilepsy, caused by excessive heat exposure that damaged the brain nerves, leading to spasmodic epilepsy symptoms.

Doctor's answer:

Epilepsy is abnormal electrical discharge in the brain. The hope of curing primary epilepsy is very small, and it is generally maintained with medication. Secondary epilepsy can be cured on its own as long as the primary lesion is treated.
