Library classification is a classification table organized based on certain ideological viewpoints, with scientific classification as the foundation, and combining the content and characteristics of library materials. This classification system is compiled according to the following principles:
Guided by Marxism, Leninism, and Mao Zedong Thought, and based on dialectical materialism and historical materialism, the establishment of classification headings and their sequence must not only be based on scientific concepts but also consider their ideological and political content.
The classification system must adhere to the principle of scientificity, based on scientific classification, and adopt a logical system from general to specific. At the same time, it must consider the characteristics of library classification, capable of accommodating ancient and foreign library materials while fully reflecting new disciplines and emerging phenomena.
In the arrangement of classification headings and the design of notation symbols, it strives to be concise, easy to understand, and memorable to meet the needs of library classification practice.
