After World War II, Western economists gradually divided political economy (theoretical economics) into two main parts: microeconomics and macroeconomics. Microeconomics focuses on the behavior of individual economic entities. This book is the microeconomics portion of our press's "Modern Western Economics," comprising five parts and seventeen chapters, including basic economic concepts, consumer demand theory, supply theory, the determination of markets and prices, and the theory of factor prices and income distribution. The second edition, in addition to textual and scientific revisions throughout the book, has added new content such as rent-seeking theory, property rights theory, public choice theory, and information economics. At the same time, separate hardcover editions of microeconomics and macroeconomics will be published to meet the needs of readers at all levels.
