BB with high fever and muscle cramps was diagnosed with pneumonia.

Patient's question:

Confirmed with pneumonia on the 4th day after the injury, with more severe symptoms on the left side. Taking medication every day, likely caused by a common cold. Previous treatment history and effectiveness: Already hospitalized for 8 days, high fever began to subside on the 6th day, but now the baby's hands have peeling. The doctor...

Doctor's answer:

The child's hands have peeling (manifesting as a glove-like membrane-like exfoliation?), and if accompanied by symptoms such as conjunctival hyperemia, scarlet tongue, prominent pharyngeal hyperemia, hard edema-like papules at the tips of fingers and toes, and cervical lymphadenopathy, it is necessary to be alert to Kawasaki disease. A cardiac ultrasound consultation is advisable.
Medical advice: If it is indeed Kawasaki disease, treatment with intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) and aspirin is required. However, the high fever associated with Kawasaki disease cannot subside on its own before aspirin is administered.
It should be noted that current cases of Kawasaki disease are often atypical. The likelihood of drug-induced peeling of the hands is almost zero and has no relation to medications.
