In the archaeological exploration of China's Bronze Age, the most representative discoveries are the large urban sites of the Xia, Shang, and Western Zhou periods, such as the Erlitou site in Yanshi, Henan, the Shang Dynasty city of Zhengzhou, and the Fenghao site in Chang'an, Shaanxi. The excavation of the Erlitou site and the research on Erlitou culture have confirmed the existence of the Xia Dynasty and its bronze culture, which were previously only part of legend. The discovery and excavation of many important Shang Dynasty sites, such as the Shang Dynasty capital of Zhengzhou and the Yin Ruins of Anyang, have revealed a very complete sequence of Shang culture, making the Shang Dynasty civilization and its stages of social development clearer. Archaeological work on the Western Zhou capital, the fiefdoms of the vassal states, and many other regions has continuously shown the rich diversity of Zhou culture and the high achievements and level of Zhou Dynasty civilization. Through the development of archaeological work, long-lost ancient capital cities have been brought back to light, exquisite artifacts have been displayed to the world, the lives of ancient ancestors have become increasingly clear, ancient mysteries have been solved, and new discoveries continue to rewrite the history of ancient Chinese civilization.
