What's wrong with the baby farting frequently and not having a bowel movement all day?

Patient's question:

Patient Age: Full Moon
Condition Description: My daughter has been 34 days old since birth and has been mixed-fed. She has also been passing very smelly gas consistently. She has a bowel movement once a day, and the stool is sticky and viscous, just like her gas, which is also very smelly. Previously, her stool was golden yellow, but recently she has been having green, sticky stools that are also quite large in volume. However, each time she has a bowel movement, she looks very strained, with a flushed face and cries very heartbrokenly, kicking her legs back and forth. She also cries and strains when passing gas. When she is not asleep, she needs to be changed every 10 minutes, and each time she cries very intensely. When she is asleep, she doesn’t need to be changed, and if she sleeps soundly, she wakes up every 2 hours without crying. She has tried four or five different (infant formula) since birth, but none of them seemed to cause her to have a bowel movement.

Doctor's answer:

Is the baby constipated? It cannot be determined solely based on bowel movement frequency. Instead, it is necessary to observe the overall quality and quantity of the baby's stool, as well as whether it affects the child's health. Each child has a different physical condition, so the normal frequency of bowel movements also varies. For example, fully breastfed infants may have more frequent bowel movements daily, while infants fed with cow's milk and other substitutes may have one bowel movement per day or every 1 to 3 days. As long as the stool's consistency and quantity are normal, and the baby shows no other discomfort, it is considered normal.
Advice: Use the massage method by placing your palm downward and flat over the baby's navel. Gently rub in a clockwise direction. This can not only speed up intestinal peristalsis and promote bowel movements but also aid in digestion.
