History of treatment and effectiveness: Almost suffocated on the third day of birth due to milk reflux.
Help needed: I want to know what to do in this situation...

Doctor's answer:

During this period, most of the baby's spitting up is physiological. It is related to the baby's stomach being in a horizontal position, having a small capacity, a wider cardiac sphincter that is less effective at closing, and a tighter pylorus connecting to the small intestine. If the baby eats too quickly or swallows too much air, it can cause liquid to reflux into the mouth, leading to vomiting.
When feeding, it is important to hold the baby upright at a 45-degree angle to allow milk to flow naturally from the stomach into the small intestine. This reduces the likelihood of spitting up compared to feeding while lying down. After feeding, make sure the baby burps: hold the baby upright against your shoulder, gently pat their back to help them burp and expel the air swallowed while drinking milk. Then place the baby back in bed, which helps prevent spitting up.
After feeding, avoid letting the baby lie flat immediately. Instead, keep them in a side-lying position for a while before turning them onto their back.
