What is the matter with the baby having diarrhea?

Patient's question:

Medical Description: When my baby was 42 days old for the maternal and child health check-up, the doctor pressed the baby's abdomen and asked if the baby's stool would be very sticky or foamy. We said we hadn't noticed. After going home, we paid attention to the baby's stool and found it was indeed very sticky. A few days later, the frequency of bowel movements increased, but the stool was still moldable, like cream, and very acidic. The baby has been very gassy since birth. We took him to see a doctor. At first, after taking medicine for two days, there was some improvement, but after stopping the medicine, it returned to its old state. A few days later, I ate shrimp, and the baby got diaper rash due to an allergic reaction in the buttocks. After the rash on the buttocks healed, the baby has been having diarrhea for a week now. The first two or three days, it was just diarrhea, with the stool being watery. The past two days, the baby seems to be straining very hard to have a bowel movement, but it doesn't come out. Before each bowel movement, the baby cries very intensely, and sleep is also restless. After the bowel movement, everything is fine.

Doctor's answer:

Hello, Symptoms: The onset can be acute or gradual, with increased bowel movements, about 5 to 6 times a day, and more severe cases may have over 10 episodes. The stool consistency first appears as strips, then becomes paste-like, yellow-green in color, with a sour odor, and may contain small amounts of mucus and undigested white or yellow milk curds. Stool examination reveals numerous fat droplets. At this stage, the condition is relatively mild, and the patient is generally in good spirits with no obvious systemic symptoms, normal temperature or occasional low-grade fever. However, if left untreated, diarrhea may worsen, leading to poor mental state, decreased appetite, vomiting, and mild dehydration. The course of mild diarrhea is usually 3 to 7 days. With timely treatment, recovery can occur within a few days.
