Features: In any two people, one heart will always leave first. If the remaining person is smart, they will leave soon too, leaving only two bodies temporarily together, like an empty room after people have left. At some point, one might think everything is already over, just as one might think everything is just beginning at another moment. This is the feeling of two people in the dim light of dawn. The content of this book: I have always wanted to write about Hu Dong. At 23, I promised a family member of Liejun a story about him. At 27, I saw news of him killing someone online. That night, I thought I had to write about Hu Dong, but time has passed so long since then. Xiao Shi met Hu Dong when she was 17. She squeezed into the crowd at the "Yueban Bay" bar to watch the performance, unable to see the singer even when she stood on her tiptoes, and her sister was nowhere to be found. Later, she backed up, leaned against the wall, and fell asleep. As her head bobbed up and down in a drowsy state, she heard a clear, crisp piano melody, and suddenly the lights went out completely. The piano sound was as cold as snow. When she woke up, she clearly heard the singer's voice that night: "Today, I watch snow fall in the cold night." She shivered, and at that moment, the crowd fell silent, revealing the singer on stage—wearing a white shirt and green pants tied up at the ankles. As he played the piano, his eyes never looked at anyone. A month later, Xiao Shi learned that the song was originally performed by Hong Kong's BEYOND, and its main singer, Huang Jiaju, had already passed away. But at that time, she couldn't hear anything else; every note echoed loneliness and helplessness, all cold and bitter, yet undeniably incredibly resilient.
