What causes nephroblastoma?

Patient's question:

Over the past half year, I have often been sick with high fever, a slightly bloated stomach, and a lack of appetite. When lightly pressing the stomach, it feels a bit hard, as if there's something inside. He rarely has bowel movements, usually only three days apart. I initially thought it was indigestion. However, after a thorough examination at the hospital, they said it was a pediatric Wilms' tumor. What kind of assistance is needed: What is a pediatric Wilms' tumor, what are the causes, and can it be cured?

Doctor's answer:

Wilms' tumor has a certain genetic predisposition. When surgery is performed and a mass is detected, all necessary clinical diagnostics and laboratory tests should be actively and promptly completed within 24 to 48 hours, and a definitive diagnosis should be made. Surgery for Wilms' tumor should be performed within 2 to 3 days after admission. If the patient has other concurrent diseases, the surgery time may be appropriately delayed, such as in cases of hypertension in children with Wilms' tumor, or rarely, secondary neuroblastoma with congestive heart failure or pneumonia. For patients with extensive pulmonary metastases that impair lung function, radiotherapy or chemotherapy should be administered before surgery.
