Features: This book is revised and written based on the fundamental requirements for basic course teaching formulated by the Ministry of Education, and widely incorporates opinions from many institutions. The book features: highlights the requirements of current teaching reform for talent cultivation goals; reflects the long-term teaching experience of the authors; has a broad selection of materials with certain flexibility in content, suitable for a wide range of applications; and adheres to the new national standards. The book covers the fundamental content of engineering mechanics and engineering materials in "Mechanical Fundamentals." It is closely paired with Mechanical Fundamentals (Mechanical Transmission and Fluid-Pneumatic Transmission), and together, the two books form a complete Mechanical Fundamentals textbook. Readers are recommended to use the two books together for the most convenience, though either book can be used individually. The main content of this book includes: force analysis of objects, coplanar concurrent force systems, moments and coplanar couple systems, coplanar general force systems, spatial force systems, tension and compression, shear and bearing, torsion of circular shafts, bending of straight beams, strength calculation for combined deformation, other common knowledge of engineering mechanics, metallic materials, and commonly used non-metallic materials. Each chapter is followed by review questions. This book can be used as a general textbook for undergraduate and associate degree programs in various non-mechanical disciplines such as engineering, technology (e.g., light textiles, electronics and electrical engineering, chemical engineering, rubber, plastics, metallurgy, mining, enterprise management, maintenance), etc. Recommended contact hours: 50-60 hours. It can also be referenced by relevant engineering technicians and management personnel.
