Symptoms of ADHD Attention Deficit Symptoms: At least six items of attention deficit or hyperactive-impulsive symptoms, lasting for at least 6 months, beyond the level of maladjustment, and not appropriate for the level of development. The onset age of some attention deficit or hyperactive-impulsive symptoms must be less than 7 years old. (1) Often unable to pay close attention to details or frequently make careless mistakes; (2) Often finds it difficult to sustain attention in tasks, training, or games; (3) Often appears distracted when conversing, as if not listening; (4) Often fails to follow instructions to complete tasks, chores, or work (not due to oppositional behavior or misunderstanding of instructions); (5) Often experiences difficulties in tasks or activities that require sustained attention (e.g., homework); (6) Often avoids tasks or activities that require sustained attention (e.g., homework); (7) Often loses items necessary for tasks or activities (e.g., toys, notebooks, pencils, books, or tools); (8) Often is easily distracted by external stimuli; (9) Often forgets things in daily activities.
