Features: This book is a collection of cases selected from the Harvard Business School case library, focusing on the venture capital industry. It consists of 9 cases and an index. These cases comprehensively and in-depthly explore the venture capital industry from various perspectives, covering all aspects of the industry. Its greatest feature is that it examines the venture capital industry from the perspective of insiders, making it an excellent book for understanding and researching how venture capital operates. This book is not only suitable for students of finance and related fields, especially MBA students, but also for all participants and researchers in the venture capital industry. Additionally, managers and project management leaders who read this book will also benefit greatly.
The venture capital industry originated in the United States in the 1920s and gave rise to world-renowned multinational companies like Microsoft and Intel. To some extent, without a developed venture capital industry, the United States would not have achieved its current success in the high-tech industry. The development of any industry relies on the support of financial capital, and the high-tech industry is no exception. China's venture capital industry began in the 1980s and has grown to a certain scale after more than a decade of development. The sources of funding have also shifted from a single government channel to multiple channels, including government, private capital, and foreign capital, with a number of strong venture capital companies emerging. However, China's venture capital industry is still relatively new, with limited accumulated experience. Significant issues in the venture capital process, such as fundraising for venture capital funds, how to incubate venture capital enterprises, how start-ups can obtain venture capital, and how investments can exit, are still being explored. Furthermore, after China joined the WTO, the venture capital industry also faces the challenge of aligning with international standards.
Against this backdrop, the publication of this book by Renmin University Press is of great significance.
