Features: Recently, highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), also known as highly pathogenic avian flu, has occurred in several countries in Asia, causing mass poultry deaths. In some cases, the virus has even infected humans, leading to fatalities. The avian deaths in Long'an County, Guangxi, in the early part of the year were also confirmed as HPAI. HPAI is a highly lethal acute zoonotic infectious disease caused by a virus. Therefore, this disease not only poses significant economic losses to the poultry industry but also threatens human health. If not controlled and prevented in a timely manner, the consequences would be severe. In the face of this new challenge in combating highly pathogenic avian influenza, leaders at all levels have attached great importance, and society has responded swiftly. To help the general public identify HPAI and take measures for timely prevention and control, we have invited Professor Wang Yongkun of Yangzhou University's veterinary department, among others, to compile the book Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Diagnostic Atlas. This book collects 140 color photographs and provides a detailed introduction to the clinical symptoms, pathological changes, and microscopic pathological changes of HPAI in chickens, ducks (meat ducks, egg ducks), geese, and muscovy ducks, among others. The photographs in the book depict common typical symptoms, with content that is accessible, scientifically rigorous, and highly practical. It provides a scientific basis for veterinary and animal health personnel, health inspection personnel, and poultry farmers to identify and diagnose HPAI in a timely, accurate, and effective manner.
