Patient's question:
6-year-old baby had a fever a few days ago and appeared red spots on their body three days later. After the fever subsided, it reappeared again within a few days, with a temperature not exceeding 38 degrees. What is going on?Previous treatment and effectiveness: During the last fever, the baby was given anti-inflammatory and cold medicine. How helpful was taking the fever-reducing medicine?
Why does the baby keep having recurrent fever?
Doctor's answer:
Children often develop fever due to infectious causes, with common culprits including viruses, bacteria, mycoplasma, and others. Your child's recurring fever suggests that the infection hasn't been fully suppressed.Medical Advice:
Antipyretic medications can be repeated every 4-6 hours, but it is recommended not to exceed 4 doses per day. They can be taken now.
If a low-grade fever reappears, increasing fluid intake may help lower the temperature to normal. Generally, antipyretic medications are not preferred in such cases. However, if the temperature is slightly elevated (below 38.5°C), it is advisable to drink more fluids while also taking antipyretic medications.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
