Features: Henri de Saint-Simon was a distinguished French thinker and one of the prominent representatives of utopian socialism. Marx and Engels ranked him alongside Fourier and Owen as one of the three great utopian socialists. Saint-Simon strongly opposed the unproductive feudal nobility and military class, believing that society should be led by industrialists and scientists. He also proposed a series of socialist-inspired ideas, such as the implementation of a universal labor obligation system, planned economy, and labor-based distribution. However, due to the immature historical conditions of the time, Saint-Simon's theories also had significant limitations, primarily manifested in his advocacy of retaining private ownership and treating the promotion of peace as the sole means of achieving social transformation. The previous edition of this selected works was translated from the Russian version, and for this reissue, it has been thoroughly revised according to the original French edition of Oeuvres complètes de Saint-Simon, and additional articles not included in the Russian translation have been supplemented.
