Features: Preface to the Publication China is an agricultural country. With the rapid development of other scientific fields, agricultural technology has also been advancing swiftly. Especially since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy, agricultural science and technology culture has expanded its scope of international exchange, presenting a new appearance. In this context, the broad scientific, educational, and translation professionals in the agricultural field, as well as relevant individuals, urgently need high-quality bilingual comprehensive agricultural dictionaries. However, the existing agricultural bilingual dictionaries often fall short in vocabulary due to their limited professional scope and target audience, or they may become outdated due to the rapid advancement of science and technology. Satisfying readers' needs in this regard is the responsibility of the agricultural science and technology culture community, and it is also the mission of China Agricultural Press. Faced with the urgent needs of society, our press invested significant funds and manpower, and after ten years of arduous effort, we have compiled and published this large-scale, newly comprehensive, and up-to-date English-Chinese Agricultural Dictionary. This dictionary references a vast number of domestic and international agricultural reference books, textbooks, periodical literature, and other relevant materials. Through careful selection, it ultimately includes nearly 300,000 entries. Its content covers all major disciplines or fields within agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery. Some specialized terms are annotated or marked with their respective disciplines to facilitate accurate understanding of their meanings. The names of biological species are generally accompanied by their Latin names. Historically, large-scale reference books have been compiled by academic authorities or authoritative scholars. Therefore, selecting suitable authors is crucial. The author team of this dictionary consists of nearly 100 experts and professors from various agricultural fields in China. They possess both profound professional knowledge and strong foreign language proficiency, laying a solid foundation for the smooth compilation and publication of this dictionary. The success of this dictionary's compilation is the result of extensive support and collaboration from all sectors of society. Special thanks are due to the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and its various specialized research institutes, China Agricultural University, Nanjing Agricultural University, Nanjing Forestry University, Northeast Agricultural University, Zhejiang Agricultural University, South China Agricultural University, Shanghai Fisheries University, Southwest Agricultural University, Shenyang Agricultural University, the Nanjing Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Grassland Ecological Research Institute of Gansu Province, the Chinese Society of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, the Animal and Plant Quarantine Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Meteorological Administration, the Chinese Food and Fermentation Industry Research Institute, the Jiangsu Provincial Institute of Botany, and other supporting units.
