Features: "College English" is a series of textbooks compiled in accordance with the "College English Teaching Syllabus" approved by the State Education Commission. It consists of five types of teaching materials: intensive reading, extensive reading, listening, rapid reading, and grammar with exercises. The trial edition was published in 1986, and the official edition was published in 1992. The intensive reading, extensive reading, rapid reading, and listening materials are each written in six levels, with one book per level for use in levels 1-6; the grammar with exercises material is written in four levels, for use in levels 1-4. Both the intensive reading and listening materials are accompanied by teacher's books and audio cassettes; the extensive reading materials for levels 1-6 are also accompanied by teacher's books. For students whose admission requirements are below the syllabus's standards, two sets of preparatory intensive reading and extensive reading materials are separately compiled.
