Features: This book is the teacher's manual for the First-Level Intensive Reading Course of "College English." It consists of sixteen lessons, designed for one semester of use. Each lesson is divided into three parts:
1. Teaching Plan: Includes background materials, introduction, language points, classroom activities, and supplementary exercises;
2. Exercise Answers: Provides answers to preview exercises, pronunciation, grammar, sentence patterns, text exercises, as well as sentence-making and dictation;
3. Reference Translation. The purpose of providing these materials is to facilitate teachers' lesson preparation, rather than to impose a rigid teaching framework. The fundamental task of the First-Level Intensive Reading Course of "College English," and thus the fundamental task of preparatory college English teaching, is to enable students to review and consolidate the English they learned in secondary school at a new level. This aims to improve students' practical grasp and application of the material, as well as their practical abilities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In actual classroom teaching, analyzing the text's content and explaining language points are essential teaching steps to help students understand the material. Given that most of the language items in the First-Level Intensive Reading Course of "College English" are things students have already learned in secondary school, helping them understand the text's meaning may not be very difficult or time-consuming. However, helping students understand the content is only the first and simplest step in learning English. What is more important, more difficult, and more fundamental is how to enable students to actually master the English language forms themselves—the forms of the English they have already understood. Therefore, teachers must dedicate significant effort to helping students familiarize themselves with the language forms in the text and exercises, and enable them to apply these forms in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Only in this way can the teaching task of the First-Level Intensive Reading Course of "College English" be completed. As for the materials provided in this book are for reference only. The teaching plan section can be adjusted as necessary based on actual teaching conditions; many exercise answers are not unique, and the reference translation cannot be considered a true translation.
