What should be done about infantile epilepsy

Patient's question:

The child appeared pale with purple lips, unresponsive to calls, weak hands and feet, sometimes curling into a ball or becoming stiff. It was often accompanied by dry retching, which subsided after vomiting. Previously, when it recurred, it was thought to be indigestion, so it was not taken seriously. In the past two months, it has occurred frequently. After each recurrence, the child showed signs of fatigue, and a hospital examination confirmed it to be epilepsy.

Doctor's answer:

Epilepsy is a chronic, recurrent syndrome of transient brain dysfunction characterized by abnormal discharges of brain neurons, leading to repeated epileptic seizures. Causes include respiratory infections, cerebral edema, respiratory acidosis, acute kidney failure, etc. If symptoms of epilepsy are diagnosed, antiepileptic drugs can be directly used to stabilize the condition. This symptom should gradually subside. In severe cases, surgical treatment may be performed.
